What the numbers do not show
Price is only one axis, and the honest reading of this table is not simply that cheaper wins.
The premium services carry contract distribution into AP, Reuters and financial terminals. That is real reach nobody else can sell, built on relationships over decades. If your announcement is a regulated disclosure, an earnings release or anything that genuinely needs terminal placement, buy it and do not think twice.
For an ordinary business announcement, terminal reach is usually not the constraint. What is usually the constraint is whether the announcement is worth reading and whether it is structured so machines can lift it cleanly. Both of those are writing problems rather than budget problems.
Also worth accounting for: several services charge separately for extra words, additional images, video embeds, extra industry lists and international distribution. Those add-ons can move a release well past its headline price, so treat every figure here as a floor.

Cost questions
How much does press release distribution cost per year?
It depends entirely on cadence and service. At published single-release rates, twelve releases a year ranges from roughly $1,188 at the lower end of the market to over $9,000 at the legacy wire end. Our annual plan is $890 for twelve.
Where do these comparison prices come from?
Each service's own published pricing page, read in 2026. We list only price, because price is the one thing about another company we can state as plain fact. Rate cards change and add-on menus vary, so check current pricing before deciding anything.
Do the comparison prices include add-ons?
No, and that matters. Several services charge separately for extra words, additional images, video embeds, extra industry targeting lists and international distribution. Those can add materially to a release, so the figures here are floors rather than typical spend.
Is more expensive better?
For some announcements, genuinely yes. The premium wires carry contract distribution into AP and financial terminals that nobody else can offer. If your announcement needs regulated disclosure or terminal placement, pay for it. For an ordinary business announcement, that reach is usually not what is limiting you.
